Dear Community,
We warmly invite you to join us for a magical afternoon of connection, creativity, and seasonal celebration at our annual Halloween Festival & Cider Press!
This family-friendly event is open to the greater White Salmon community, and includes trick-or-treating, cider making, an ancestor altar, storytelling in the forest, and a shared potluck meal.
Come celebrate with us in a joyful, nature-based, and intentional setting. 🌿🎃
🕯 Ancestor Altar / Día de los Muertos
We’ll be building a community altar to honor loved ones who have passed.
Inspired by Día de los Muertos traditions, this space invites remembrance, reverence, and connection.
Please bring:
- Photos of ancestors or loved ones
- Small offerings like fruit, flowers, candles, or natural symbols
- Meaningful items or handwritten notes
Let’s co-create a beautiful altar together. 🌼
🍬 Trick-or-Treat Gifts (30–35 items per family)
Each participating family is asked to bring a small gift or treat for the children.
Guidelines:
✔ Treats – made with natural ingredients, no artificial colors or preservatives
✔ Trinkets – made of natural materials (no plastic, please!)
🚫 Note: We have children with gluten and dairy allergies — thank you for labeling clearly!
Examples: homemade cookies, small snacks, glass beads, stones, acorns, shells, etc.
🍎 Cider & Fire Cider Station
Join us for fresh apple cider pressing and a communal fire cider making session!
Please bring:
- One container for apple cider
- One jar for fire cider
- 1–2 ingredients: onion, garlic, ginger, horseradish, thyme, lemon
- Bonus: rose hips, turmeric, rosemary, peppers
Provided by Heartsong:
- Apple cider vinegar (4 gallons)
- 25–30 pint-sized jars
Let’s make delicious herbal medicine together!
🧙♀️ Old Woman of the Woods
At 2:30 PM, we’ll gather the children to visit the Wise Old Woman in the Woods — a magical storytime walk through the forest.
Each child brings one trick-or-treat gift to offer her in exchange for a story and a surprise.
After the visit, trick-or-treating continues along the Kinderforest Path, where adults will hand out the remaining gifts.
🥗 Community Potluck
We’ll close the celebration with a shared community meal — either in the Kinder Greenhouse or Garden, depending on the weather.
Please bring:
- A dish to share
- Bowls, plates, cups, and utensils for your family
We can't wait to share this festival with you — it's one of our biggest events of the year, and such a joyful way to gather as a community.
